Chief Chad J. Christopher began his fire career with the City of Mount Vernon Fire Department on March 8, 2001. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, eventually being appointed Fire Chief in December 2013. Chief Christopher is an Ohio-certified Paramedic, Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II, Fire Safety Inspector, Live Fire Instructor, Incident Safety Officer and is a Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Specialist.
Throughout his career, he has participated in various leadership training programs to strengthen his role as Fire Chief. Chief Christopher is also an active supporter of fire service education, serving on the COTC Fire Science Program Advisory Committee and the Knox Technical Center Public Safety Advisory Committee.
Born and raised in Mount Vernon, Chief Christopher is deeply committed to serving his community and supporting his fellow firefighters. He prioritizes firefighter health and safety and is dedicated to working with City Administration and Mount Vernon Firefighters to ensure that all personnel return home safely to their families and lead long, healthy lives.
