Engineering

The primary objectives of the City Engineering Department are projects and records management and permitting. The Department maintains a wide variety of permanent records such as water, wastewater, and stormwater lines, permits, maps of all types, and various other historical documents related to the operation of the City.

Development Services

  • For property development questions, including zoning regulations, contact Lacie Blankenhorn – Development Services Manager.
  • Commercial Building Permits are issued through the State of Ohio. The City of Mount Vernon does not have Contractor Registration.
  • Zoning District assignments can be located on the Knox County Auditor’s website by turning on the "City of Mount Vernon Zoning" Layer (Layers icon) on their GIS/Tax Map.
